Daniel Magilow, Associate Professor of German

Wednesday, April 26, 2017
East Tennessee History Center
601 South Gay Street

Knox County Public Library invites the public to join Dr. Daniel Magilow for a discussion of Why? Explaining the Holocaust by Peter Hayes in the East Tennessee History Center, 601 South Gay Street. A light lunch will be available for the first 30 attendees.

This event recognizes Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"Hayes has written a book that synthesizes the complex history of the 20th century’s signature catastrophe,” Magilow said. “In light of the Holocaust’s renewed presence in American political discourse, Why? is a particularly timely book because it helps show how the memory of the Holocaust is being used and abused."

Dr. Magilow is an associate professor of German at the University of Tennessee. He received a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in German from Princeton University. Before coming to UT, he was the 2005-2006 Pearl Resnick Postdoctoral Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
