Energy and Interactive Learning

Hebrew classA virtual Israeli cooking demo, a lesson on Israeli dancing in Hebrew, singing a Hebrew song in a talent competition, and learning how to order food in Hebrew from a restaurant. These are just some of the things you might find yourself doing in a UT Hebrew class. Our new Hebrew instructor Revital Ganzi, originally from Tel Aviv, has brought energy and interactive learning to the Hebrew program. Students learn how to communicate in Hebrew while learning more about Israeli culture.

Fortunately, even before COVID-19, Revital Ganzi had been developing an extensive online learning system for Hebrew students that she was able to utilize to ensure that students continued to have a vibrant and interactive Hebrew learning experience. Students in advanced Hebrew classes work on a customized curriculum that allows them to explore their interests while learning Hebrew.

This new energy has led to the growth of the program and due to the generosity of Lea and Allen Orwitz, we are able to offer third level Hebrew. We are planning to begin offering a Hebrew minor this upcoming fall and Hebrew will be integrated into the UT Middle East Studies major as a focus language.

The Hebrew program continues to offer online cultural workshops and programs though we hope soon to be able to return to some of the activities next year like Hebrew language lunch table and in person cultural workshops.
